The programme for our Half Marathon Training Runs is now in the "Seniors" section.

Todays Runner League 29/01/12
Jan 15, 2012, 5:12 pm
The next Today's Runner league event takes place on Sunday 29th January at Manor Farm near Hamble, Southampton.
This is a really nice run in the country park with a mixture of gravel tracks, paths through the woodland and alongside the river and probably a little bit of mud.  It is one of my favourite runs in the series and there are no really nasty hills except right at the finish.
Parking is always a bit busy at this one and there is a charge for it.  All information is on the attached document.
Ladies - please note that Janet, Janine and I will be unable to run because we will be on our way back from skiing.
We do need 5 men and 3 ladies to close the team and with the regular half marathon training runs on Sundays we need to consider who will be running in this event.  Having done a few weeks of longer runs by then this could be an opportunity to ease back for a week which will help you by avoiding over-training.

O18 Training Tuesday 17th January
Jan 15, 2012, 3:43 pm

This coming Tuesday the O18's are meeting at Elvetham Heath.  Park in the car park between the community centre and Morrisons.  We are heading off for hill reps on The Avenue, off Elvetham Road. See you there.  Penny

Lord Wandsworth Race 3 - 15th January
Jan 14, 2012, 11:08 am

The next race in the Lord Wandsworth series of races is this Sunday 15th January with the first race starting at 11.  Juniors and Seniors welcome with entry on the day available.
Just to remind the juniors that the age bandings are different to the Border League as Lord Wandsworth will be going on the age you are 1st September 2012. Please be careful to check this and you may be in an older age group. You need to be less than the top end of your age group on the 1st September 2012.
So to be under 9 you must still be 8 or less on the 1st September 2012.
to be under 11 you must still be 10 or less on the 1st September 2012
to be under 13 you must still be 12 or less on the 1st September 2012
to be under 15 you must still be 14 or less on the 1st September 2012
to be under 17 you must still be 16 or less on the 1st September 2012
I hope this explains it.

FHM 2012 Training Runs
Jan 8, 2012, 5:36 pm

Great to see a good number of club runners and new faces for the first of our Fleet Half Marathon 2012 training runs this morning.

Two groups of runners did 6 miles and 8.5 miles - the longer distance group found the mud on the area - sorry!  It was an enjoyable run and nice to get off the roads.  Next week's run for the longer group will be a mixture of roads and canal path so less chance of the mud!

The runs start at 8.30am from the club hut and will go off more promptly next week.

Hampshire Cross Country Champs - Results
Jan 8, 2012, 5:31 pm

Yesterday (07/01/12) a number of the club took part in the Hampshire Cross Country Championships at Dibden Enclosure, near The New Forest.

In perfect conditions and on a lovely but testing course, some good runs were had.

Unfortunately the Veteran ladies were unable to retain their title from last year.  There were a lot of runners in the ladies race this year but we still managed to finish 5th in the Veteran ladies team results.  This was a tremendous result as the teams ahead of us were big clubs with very good runners in their teams.

Congratulations has to go to Anita Salter, Penny Abbott, Janet Leggett and Debbie Pagan as our Veteran ladies team.  Yvonne and Evelyn Farrell also ran with Anita, Penny,Yvonne and Janet making up the Senior ladies team.

On the men's side Mickael Hegesippe, David Long and Andy Salter put in good performances in the mens race.  Well done everyone!

Christmas Handicap
Nov 25, 2011, 11:15 am
The Christmas Handicap will take place on the traditional Sunday before Christmas - Sunday 18th December.

This is an opportunity for everyone in the club to run together (Under 18's and over 18's) across a cross country route of approximately 1.5 miles - so not too far!  It would be great to see a few Santa hats or reindeer horns.

Please be at the club HQ for 10am in order to be allocated your handicap time.  The run will go off promptly at 10.30am.

All runners need to bring a wrapped gift approx value of £2 which is suitable for all age groups i.e. no alcohol.  If your gift is only suitable for a male or a female please mark accordingly but unisex gifts are the best.

After the run mulled wine, soft drinks and a few nibbles will be available in the club HQ so please stick around for a bit of a social with your club mates.

Due to race commitments by some of our normal time keepers, we will need a couple of volunteers on the day to record times.  If you do not intend to run but would still like to come along for the social side, please let Rob Coates know that you are available to help with time recording.

Hampshire Cross Country Championships 2012
Nov 25, 2011, 11:13 am

We normally have a good turnout for the Hampshire Cross Championships so take a note of the details now.  As the current title holders, the lady Vets must go back to defend their title again.  Can we make it 3 years on the trot that we take the title?????

Date: Saturday January 7th 2012

Location: Dibden Enclosure, Dibden Purlieu on the edge of The New Forest (beautiful course!)

12:50pm Senior and Veteran Women (8,000 metres)

13:40pm Senior and Veteran Men (11,700m)

The club will pay individual entry fees for this race.  However if you then choose not to run, you may have to refund the club.

To enter this race all competitors must have Hampshire qualifications: a. birth or b. nine months continuous residence or service in H.M. Forces prior to the date of the Championships, in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight or Channel Islands, and MUST NOT have competed for another county or in another county's championships during the preceding year.  This is a Hampshire Club competition, and so unaffiliated runners may not be accepted.  Club vests must be worn.
