The Minstead Stinger 20th October 2013
Oct 10, 2013, 12:27 pm

Totton Running Club has sent through the following about their forthcoming event:

Many of our club members travel across the country and the local region taking part in many varied and challenging races put on by some of your clubs. We would love for you to come and join our race and help us make ours a success.

You may already have it in the calendar ready to enter, but if you haven't yet, can you please let your club members know that we still have spaces left for your club members to take part in our Minstead Stinger 10 mile trail race in the heart of the New Forest starting and ending at Ocknell Campsite near Fritham (detailed directions and info are on our website at www.tottonrc.weebly.com) . Completely off-road, well marshalled, likely to be a little on the muddy side and definitely undulating, with a sting in the tail, entry in advance is £13 for club runners and we have an excellent goodie bag for all finishers this year. All prizes and spot prizes are provided by Up and Running.
We are accepting entries on the day (for an additional £2) and will again have our race village set up to welcome you with the Bacon Butty van ready to provide your pre and post race munch requirements (other choices available). Up and Running will be there along with exercise tips available from the Running School, and post race massage will be available in the race village afterwards.

We look forward to welcoming some of you back and to welcome many of you for the first time.

Charity Sponsorship Appeal - James Stevenson

Dear all
This Saturday the 7th of September I will set off with 7 cycling friends, on 7 bikes to complete the famous John O Groats to Land’s End challenge. We are pushing ourselves to complete the route in 7 days. We will ride 1000 miles and climb over 19,000 metres, including some iconic climbs like the Hardknott Pass in the Lake District with a gradient of 1 in 3...........Our route is mapped out each day with lunch stops (for lots and lots of food, we will be burning about 6000 – 7000 calories per day) and overnight stops. We will be supported by two men in a van, one a qualified bike mechanic  and friends and family supporting at various stops along the route.
Those who know me well know I enjoy my physical challenges and have completed many marathons and extreme bike rides over the years. This will be the biggest challenge yet. Why I am doing it, well it’s not a mid life crisis it is to raise money for a cause that is important to me and my family. The RDARiding for the Disabled. I am supporting the local branch in Farnham, The RDA gives 1000 free pony rides to local children (1 for every mile we are completing!) with a variety of disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Asperger Syndrome. The RDA is a charity which relies on donations to provide these wonderful rides and 100% of everything I raise will go to the charity.
All and any donations will make a big difference, please use the following link to the BT mydonate site to see more details of the challenge, the RDA and to donate.
Many thanks for your support and look out for an update mail when we finish.
Kind regards
