We need to enter teams of 5 for these races so please let Jolene (Ladies) and Bob (Men) know if you wish to make up a team. All races start at 11:00 am.

The basic rules are:
  • For a complete team to score we need to have at least 5 men and 3 women run at each meeting - our first 5 and 3 runners will count as the scoring members but we want to get as many runners out as possible so that the club us well represented
  • All runners must wear their club vest (or the new short sleeve/long sleeve club tees)
  • New rule - All runners must be at least age 17 on the day of the event
  • New rule - The results produced on the day by the host club will only include the scoring men/women for each club to speed up the results.  Full results will be sent out the next day.
  • Speed limit - there is a speed limit on runners to encourage slower runners into the league.  None of our club runners fall foul of the speed rules at the moment (5.30 mile for men and 6.00 women) but for reference if a runner has a recorded race result in the previous 12 months of Men - 5mile 27:30, 10km 34:11, 10m 55.00 or Women - 5 mile 30.00, 10km 37:17, 10m 60.00 - they are not able to run in this league.

Lord Wandsworth Cross-Country Series Fixtures

Organised by Hart Road Runners, these races are for juniors and seniors.  These events are low key and good practise if you are looking at taking part in the Southern XC or Hampshire XC league events - it is quite a tough course so off-road shoes are recommended.  You can enter in advance and save yourself time or you can turn up early and enter on the day.

2016 dates are to be announced.

More details and entry form are HERE.

It would be great to get athletes at all 3 events but in particular the Hampshire XC Championships as particularly the vet ladies have done very well there in the past.  It is our County Championships and we should support it.

Penny has competed in the Masters XC before and again that is a great event and we could do very well there if we get a team out.  There are also great opportunities at this one for our older athletes to do very well.

The SEAA Championships in Brighton is the one which is normally held at Parliament Hill in London so the 2015 venue is much easier to get to.

Let's get some teams out!

Hampshire XC Championships

We normally have a good club turnout for these and have had individual and team winners in the past.  The club will pay the individual entry fees but I need to know now that you wish to run.  Entries must be submitted by early December.

Timetable:

13:10pm Senior and Masters Women - 8000 metres (8km)
13:55pm - Under 20 men - 9200 metres (9,2km)
13:55pm - Senior and Masters Men - 12,000 metres (12km)

The course at Fleming Park is gently undulating in parts but nothing horrific. It can have surface mud if the weather has been poor but it is basically all on grass and is ideal for spikes/studs or trainers dependent on how wet it has been.

Notes on entries:

  1. All competitors must have Hampshire qualificationa. birth or b. nine months continuous residence or service in H.M. Forces prior to the date of the Championships, in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight or Channel Islands, and MUST NOT have competed for another county or in another county's championships during the preceding year.
  2. This is a Hampshire Club competition, and so unaffiliated runners will not be accepted.
  3. Qualification Date for Under 20 age group is 31st December 2014.
  4. Athletes wishing to compete in an older age group, e.g. Under 17 athletes wishing to compete in the Under 20 event, must specify clearly which age group is being entered, or you will be placed in the correct age group category according to your birth date.
  5. Masters competitors pay one entry fee and score in both Senior and Masters age groups.
  6. Teams consist of FOUR to score in all age groups apart from Senior Men, where SIX will score.
  7. You must wear your club vest/t-shirt.
If you would like to run in this Championships and we encourage everyone to do so, please email Penny asap and include your DOB on the email.
